OPPO successfully tested 5G signal using a modified R15

We are really entering the 5G era as more and more technology companies have already developed and tested different 5G compatible technologies. But OPPO and Qualcomm are among those who are leading this revolution.

Just recently, OPPO announced that it has successfully tested 5G signaling and data link with the help of a smartphone already available on the market. The device they refer to is the OPPO R15.

OPPO modified this device and configured it with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem. This material will essentially allow the smartphone to receive and transmit a 5G signal.

The signaling and data connectivity that was tested was based on the 3GPP version 15 NSA standard, which used a bandwidth of 10 MHz for 4G LTE and 20 MHz on 5G NR n78. According to OPPO, they expect the n78 band to be the most used frequency when the 5G is broadcast.

This is why they believe that the test they are performing will considerably speed up the market launch of devices equipped with 5G technology.

This is not the first time that OPPO has come across a 5G development breakthrough. At the beginning of the year, the company managed to make the world's first 5G video call. They were also able to present an impressive 1.4 Gbps download and 160 Mbit / s download speeds.

All of these tests came from OPPO's initiative to create a research institute to develop 5G and AI technologies, as well as other innovations for the industry.
